Reflections on the international student journey: "Nobody does anything alone"


Each international student who makes her way to Canada writes her own story. While Canada’s federal and provincial governments and territories treat the mission of welcoming international students seriously, the journey is commonly full of challenges. Even coming to a new country as a visitor can be difficult, so it is important to extensively prepare for study in another country.


In Canada’s leading publication for universities, University Affairs, Ivan Joseph, Vice-President of Student Affairs at Wilfrid Laurier University reflects on the lesson he learned growing up as the son of a once international student from Guyana.
